Very British Problems : Episode 1

Very British Problems，一個第4頻道(Channel 4)的有趣電視節目，是練習英語聽力和口語的好材料。對那些準備(要聽英國口音的)高階英文考試，如IELTS雅思、劍橋CAE和CPE的學生特別有用。當然考DSE的同學亦可以此作為練習聆聽的素材。該節目會有一些著名的英國面孔，講的是英國人日常生活上古怪和尷尬的事情。

第一集著重英國人如何與其他人打交道 : What are the rules of small talk? How many times can you ask someone to repeat themselves before giving up and hoping for the best? And what does James Corden mean when he offers to help wash up?

第4頻道提供了一個小測驗 "How Awkwardly British Are You?"。縱使你不是英國人，也可試試看，你可以了解英國人多一點。

原來已很久沒上載文章。 我和孩子少看了電視新聞，轉了收聽網上電台。以下是我們最近的一些選擇： BBC Learning English 的 6 Minute English ：連 Archives 的 programmes 在內，共有約180個 6分鐘的 programmes/clips，題材廣泛，如 World Wide Web celebrates 20th birthday ， Ebooks ， Black History Month ， How musical are you? etc. BBC Radio 4 Extra (前身為 BBC Radio 7) ：主要是 comedy and drama entertainment，最近播放的有 The Woman in Black ， Wuthering Heights ， Michael Dobbs - House of Cards ， The Men from the Ministry ，是頗吸引的節目。 BBC Radio 4 ：有 news, talks, 但我們主要收聽 drama。最愛的是 Weird Tales ，屬於Horror & Supernatural類別的故事。每個故事約30分鐘，懸疑詭秘，可聽性甚高。另外還有 Saturday Play ，每星期播放一個約一小時的廣播劇，戲種是thrillers, mysteries, love stories & detective fiction，剛剛聽過的是由著名小說改編的 Ripley Under Water 。 RTHK News Bulletins ：香港電台的英語新聞，每天有兩個news bulletins 的 audio recordings (13:00 & 23:00)，周末和假日更有額外的recordings。 Happy listening!
